Memorial Day Splash!

As I said in the last post, these are a bit out of order. These were taken on Memorial Day...which was Miles first time swimming! I can't tell you how excited I was for this day. Shortly after I found out I was pregnant I began counting down the days until I could take my little one swimming and feel his slippery chubby little body. Swimming played a big part of my adolescence. My mom started me off swimming as a little baby taking the "guppy" (mommy and me) class at the YMCA. I remember my first outdoor swimming lesson a few years later. All the kids had to strap a white Styrofoam bubble onto their back. I didn't want to, but I did it anyway. It took the teacher a few short minutes to realize I was way beyond my class and I moved over to the deep end for class with the big kids. Shortly thereafter came my first shot at swim team. I was a decent swimmer but stroke technique at that time was not my strongest area. I would stand on the diving block, jump in, and freestyle my way to the other side of the pool holding my face out of the water. My first swim coach, Chip, would be standing at the other end yelling...put your face in! He was always telling me I would go so much faster if I would just put my face in. Eventually I did, and he was right. I loved swim team. I have such vivid memories of getting up early, the smell of the pool, thinking Chip was a crazy man for suggesting we get in the water when it felt like it was 40 degrees out. I stayed on swim team for quite some time. I never became a super star but I felt like I was decent for someone who only swam competitively in the summer time. Later I became a lifeguard, coached a swim team, and became the teacher of the YMCA guppy class. Full Circle. I don't think I'll ever love a job as much as I loved that one, and if I ever win the lottery or become lucky enough to be a stay at home mom, I will be teaching swim lessons once again. For the time being I get to reenact my glory days with the help of my son. hehehe...poor guy. Here are the pictures of his first go at it:

Auntie Stacy was on my tail every second of having Miles in the pool. I literally could feel her breathing down my neck. She was driving me crazy, but Miles, if you ever read this you should know that your Auntie Stacy is crazy about you. Annoyingly crazy about you.

Learning to blow bubbles...with Auntie Stacy still stalking.

Learning to float. I could not believe he allowed this. MY baby is the best swimmer.

Miles and Gramp taking a dip.

Miles and cousin Nicole playing with his Blue Angels Duck.

Miles was a popular guy at the pool. Here is his with grammie telling him secrets.

Wardrobe change. I was so afraid he would burn or get too cold so I bought him this fancy head to toe swimsuit. It was a pain in the rear to get him out of it.

It was crazy how much time he spent in the pool that day. At one point when he was with my dad he actually fell asleep floating around! I love it. Now he "jumps" in and gets his face wet too. We are working on blowing bubbles, that can be tricky. I've been using mostly my old methods to teach him but I found a lot of interesting information about infant survival swimming here: http://www.uswim.com/conditioning. I haven't had time to fully explore this site but I was impressed with what I've seen so far. Until next time, Lots of Love!

June Pics!

These monthly photoshoots are getting tough! Miles has no interest in staying still for me to take pictures and ends up pitching a fit if I try to make him. Oh well...I'm starting to feel like the action shots are more fun anyway! I just keep snapping away with the thought that if I take 100 pictures I should get 1 or 2 decent pictures. The one above is the 1 of 100. Below you'll see many adorable pictures of the back of my son. This is the view I get most of the time also as I spend quite a bit of time chasing him....and he doesn't really even walk yet. I'm thinking Miles 2nd year we will do quarterly pictures instead of monthly...and make have them done professionally while I practice on something easier. Like a flower or something.

Next up is Miles adventures in swimming! I am getting my posts a bit out of order since we went swimming for Memorial Day but whatev. I'm a busy lady now..which means learning to let some things go. Love!!

Cinco De Mayo

Oh how time flies. I just got around to Miles' June photoshoot and when I got online to post the pics I realized I still hadn't posted his Cinco De Mayo Party Pics! Back in the day Cinco de Mayo was one of my favorite days of the year. I'm not sure if I should admit this, but I would actually take off seis de Mayo just so I could over induldge on cinco without dragging myself to work the next day with margarita coming out my pores. This year was a bit different, but no less fabulous...and no hangover! BONUS! (Well, maybe a little hangover but nothing like years past.)

My parents made a huge Mexican feast that was super yummy!

Mahi Mahi Fish Tacos...to DIE for!

Obviously.

Such a festive patio!

Everyone had some fun with the sombreros and mustaches. It was a great night with great food and great company!

The End!

Miles First Braves Game!

Last weekend I posted about our Saturday activity - the crawfish boil. I was too exhausted to post about our impromptu Sunday activity - Miles first Braves Game! Shane's house is about an hour away so when we go out there for an evening we often stay the night. Upon waking on Sunday it was decided to check out a Braves game. It was a 1:30 game so we went to work right away on preparing to do it up right for Mr. Miles. After several stops Matt, Miles, and myself were all decked out in brand new Braves gear, the cooler was stocked in the back of the car, and Miles was slathered up in sunblock. Off we went!

After a short little tailgating session we were ready to head into the game!

We started off checking out our seats...which were VERY high!!! MUCH to high for mommy. Miles didn't like it much up there either. No room to play!

We decided to find somewhere that offered us a little more room, a little less height, and some food!

After lunch we took a stroll around Turner Field.

OK. I am reaching here. There just isn't a lot to say about this day. Matt and I had looked forward to Miles first Braves game since the day we found out we were having a boy. I hate to admit it, but baseball games are not a great place to take a little one. I should have seen it coming. There was nothing to do with him! We couldn't sit in the seats because he wanted to get down. I'm not a fan of sitting in the restaurants to eat because I can catch a game at the local Taco Mac and pay half the price for food and beer if I wanted to watch the game on TV. Walking around is fun...but only for so long. Oh well. It was fun while it lasted, but it didn't last long. I'm pretty sure we didn't make it half way through the game which is fine. We made some fun memories and before we left Miles was issued his "My First Visit to Braves Country" certificate. This was my favorite part of the day.
